How Drunk Am I? Units Calculator
Add up standard alcohol units across multiple drinks to see roughly how much you've had. Not a blood alcohol or impairment estimate - never use this to decide whether it's safe to drive.
Frequently asked questions
Is this tool free?
Yes. Calchemy tools are free to use in your browser.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The tools are designed to run locally in your browser unless clearly stated otherwise.
How are units calculated?
Using the standard formula: units = (volume in ml x ABV%) / 1000. This is the same calculation used on UK drink labelling, so it works for beer, wine, spirits or cocktails as long as you know the volume and ABV.
Does this tell me if I'm safe to drive?
No, and it must never be used for that. This only totals standard units - it does not estimate blood alcohol content, and it cannot account for your body weight, sex, metabolism, food intake or tolerance, all of which affect impairment far more than a units total can capture. If you've had any alcohol at all, the only safe choice is not to drive.
What counts as a unit?
One UK unit is 10ml (about 8g) of pure alcohol. A small glass of wine or a pint of regular-strength lager is often close to 2-3 units, but it varies a lot by drink size and strength - check the label or measure where you can.
